Most school would not stick to the 120/100 set by jamb read carefully

Will Universities accept candidates that scored
up to the 120 cut off mark and will polytechnics
accept candidates that scored up to the 100 cut
off mark set by jamb?.
Well Read This:
On Tuesday 22nd August 2017,the Joint
Admissions and Matriculations Board(JAMB)
literally broke the internet in relation with the
educational sector in Nigeria after it released
the 2017 official minimum cut off Mark for all
tertiary institutions which
includes: Universities,Polytechnics,Colleges of
Education and innovative enterprising institutes.
The minimum 2017 admission cut off mark for
Universities was fixed at 120;Cut off Marks for
Polytechnics and Colleges of Education were
fixed at 100, while that of the Innovative
Enterprising Institutes was fixed at 110.
The fixed cut off mark which was decided upon
by jamb and concerned stakeholders in various
institutions and educational sector in Nigeria as
expected saw a lot of different reaction from
people especially the 2017 admission
seekers;many were actually happy about it.
But the question that should come to the mind
of any critical-thinking person is:
Will Universities accept candidates that scored
up to the 120 cut off mark and will polytechnics
accept candidates that scored up to the 100 cut
off mark set by jamb?.
Personally, I think universities like the:
University Of Ibadan(UI),OBAFEMI AWOLOWO
UNIVERSITY (OAU),University Of Nigeria
(UNN),University Of Benin(UNIBEN),Federal
University of Technology Owerri(FUTO),AHMADU
BELLO UNIVERSITY ZARIA(ABU),NNAMDI
AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY(UNIZIK),University of
Ilorin(UNIILORIN),University Of Calabar
(UNICAL),University Of Lagos(UNILAG) and
other top universities which are presently
among the toughest universities to gain
admission into may not stick to the 120 cut off
mark when considering candidates for admission
because initially(as at 2016) when the minimum
cut off mark was set at 180 these universities
raised theirs to 200,250 and even as high as
270,300 for most competitive courses
like:medicine,law,pharmacy,etc on the other
hand, standard and competitive polytechnics like
the: Yaba college of technology
(YABATECH),AUCHI POLY,POLY IBADAN and a
host of others may not as well stick to the
minimum cut of mark of 100 when considering
candidates for admission.
Don't forget,Jamb actually said that Institutions
are free to go beyond the minimum cut off mark
for Admission exercises but not below the cut
off point.
My analysis can also be backed up with the fact
that there are limited slots available for
intending students in each institution in the
country in whatever choice of course of
study, that is to say, if the total number of
candidates that applied for a particular course in
an institution is up to 3000 candidates; about
2500 scored above 200 in jamb and the slot
available in that institution for that particular
course is just meant for 1000 candidates.
Such institution will not even fix their cut off
mark for admission at 120 or 100.
They might not even consider those that scored
up to 200 for admission.
I hope my view on the 2017 Cut Off Mark Set
For All Tertiary Institutions By Jamb is clearly
understood and also hope i've been able to
convince you on why Most Schools Will Not
Stick To The 120/100 Cut Off Mark By JAMB.
