11 textbooks you must use to study petroleum engineering in University of Ibadan

MOSYLOADEDBLOGNEWS

It was formally established in 1972 as
one of the foundation departments of
the faculty of technology and well
equipped by the Canadian International
Development Agency (CIDA) to perform
as a frontline educational department.
However, CIDA folded up its program in
Nigeria around 1975 and the facilities
have been kept in reasonable working
order by the federal government of
Nigeria through the university.
The department has trained over 900
petroleum engineers for the Nigerian
and global petroleum industry.

There are comprehensive books
recommended to students by the
department with focuses on economic
and environmental safe production.
These includes texts which ranges from
detailed facts from 2010 BP oil spill to
the fundamentals of engineering
thermodynamics.
The course offered for this course in the
university ranges from TPE 211
(introduction to petroleum engineering)
to TPE 599 (project).
To scale through the five years of
learning with good grades and be good
ambassadors of the department, the
textbooks are:
1. Fundamentals of Investing in Oil and
Gas by Chris Termeer
2. Oil and Gas Production in
Nontechnical language by Martin S
Raymond
3. Enhanced Oil Recovery Field Case
Studies by James J Sheng
4. The A to Z of Petroleum Industry by
M S Vassiliou
5. Statistics for Petroleum Engineers and
Geoscientists by Jerry Jensen, Patrick W
and M Corbett
6. Introduction to Petroleum
Engineering by John R Fanchi
7. Nontechnical guide to Petroleum
Geology, Exploration Drilling and
Production by Norman Jhyne
8. Petroleum Production Systems by
Michael J Economies, A Daniels Hills
9. From Oil to Gas by Shannon Zemlicka
10. Handbook of Oil Industry Terms and
Phrases by R D Langenkamp
11. Petroleum Production Engineer: A
computer assisted approach by Boyun
Guo

However, the pattern of teaching in the
department and faculty of technology at
large is quite different as students are
advice to read academic papers written
by the lecturers taking those courses
and other authorities on petroleum.

Some of the materials include: “Physical
chemistry” “ODE 1” “Mechanics”
“Physical geology” which are mainly for
100l engineering students as well aa
others which are “walpole”, “cengel”,
“Matthew and Russell” “Vectorial
analysis”, “ODE 2”, “Alegbra”, “Analysis
for Non-Majors”, “probability and
statistics."
