Honour has come from home for
prolific Nollywood Producer & CEO
Royal Arts Academy Emem Isong
Misodi . The notable producer was
recently honoured by His Excellency
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa
Ibom State during the 30 th year
anniversary celebration of the state that
had Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as
Special guest of honour.
Emem was honoured along with 30
other eminent personalities that have
contributed immensely to development
in the state including Senator Tunde
Ogbeha , Obong Victor Attah, and
Senator Godswill Akpabio. It turned out
that Emem was the only woman among
the awardees and she was honoured for
her iconic achievement in the field of
entertainment.
Meanwhile, Emem is in Akwa Ibom to
film her latest project ; an epic series set
in Ibibio land titled ‘The Heiress ’. She
says “ as a way of saying ‘thank you to
my people, ’ I have decided to film my
next huge project in Uyo to continue in
our contributions towards the
development and growth of the movie
industry in Akwa Ibom and indeed
Nollywood. ’’ The Heiress is a first- of - its -
kind epic series that is a joint
production between Royal Arts
Academy & Rok Studios . She has teamed
up with long - time friend and colleague ,
Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen .
Lala Akindoju Is Light, Camera Africa
Filmfest Ambassador
DAZZLING Mirage star Lala Akindoju
has been named Festival Ambassador
for the 2017 edition of the Light,
Camera Africa Filmfest, which kicked
off at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos
yesterday and will last till tomorrow .
Reputed as one of Africa ’s landmark
cultural and film event , the theme of
this year ’s festival is ‘RESET ’ and
according to founder and festival
director Ugoma Adegoke: “ The seventh
edition of this year’ s festival will
showcase to audiences , a reflective
presentation of film works and
conversations that examine issues in
various spheres – including politics ,
science , arts , culture , and tradition – in
order to identify the reflections that are
more relevant in Nigeria. ”
In its seventh edition, the Light Camera
Africa is aimed at creating a platform
that encourages stimulating discourse
on issues and experiences with family -
friendly programming rooted in the
African experience. The groundbreaking
film , “ An Opera of The World ” by
Manthia Diawara will be making its
African premiere at the festival.
